Dannible & McKee, LLP Launches New Client Portal
SYRACUSE, N.Y., February 1, 2010 – Dannible & McKee, LLP recently announced the launch of its new “Online Document Management System”. This new system can be used by Dannible & McKee’s over 1,200 clients as a secure portal to upload, download and exchange important documentation as it relates to audit and tax services provided by the Firm.
The online document management system stores an electronic copy of a document and also allows for quick, yet secure retrieval through indexing systems or searches. The advantages of using an online document management system go beyond obvious cost savings into faster retrieval times and smaller physical storage spaces. Online document management systems also offer extra benefits such as efficiency of workflow and information management.
“Our online document management system has the advantage of being able to be accessed from anywhere in the world and allows for the secure transfer of information to and from our clients,” stated Dannible & McKee managing partner, Anthony Dannible. “The system improves the control of documents and reduces the risk of loss or damage of paper copies. In the accounting industry, documentation is essential and this management system allows us to communicate with our clients more efficiently and share information remotely in a timely fashion.”
More than five years ago, the Firm undertook the initiative to change its audit approach to that of a completely “paperless” environment. Client information is now provided in electronic format in the form of spreadsheets, documents and PDF files. The Firm’s detailed audit workpapers are also maintained in an electronic format. “By turning to this new electronic process, it has helped us overcome challenges of manual document management such as slow retrieval of information, process inefficiencies and regulatory compliance,” stated Ken Gardiner, partner-in-charge of the Firm’s audit services.
In addition, the Firm’s tax department continually promotes its paperless system and electronically filed returns. “The Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities are increasing their requirements for electronically filed returns. We are quickly approaching a time where paper-filed returns will no longer exist and we are preparing our clients now for that eventuality” says Michael J. Reilly, partner in-charge of tax services. Aside from the value-added benefits of client service, the Firm’s paperless environment also promotes a “green” approach to providing audit and tax services to clients nationwide.
