Dannible & McKee, LLP Announces Ten Professional Staff Promotions

Dannible & McKee, LLP, a certified public accounting and consulting firm with offices in Syracuse, Binghamton and Albany, New York, is pleased to announce the promotion of ten professional staff members for their exceptional efforts during the last year.

Daniel J. Connor, CPA, has been promoted to audit manager. Connor joined the firm in 2014 and has experience providing auditing, accounting and consulting services to a variety of clients, including manufacturers, professional services firms and healthcare practices. He specializes in the automotive industry, as well as providing Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) overhead audits. Connor earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and Master of Business Administration in professional accountancy from St. Bonaventure University.  He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA).

Shawn T. Layo, CPA, has been promoted to tax manager. Layo has extensive experience in taxation and planning for individuals and closely held companies. He also oversees tax engagements for a variety of the firm’s clientele, with a focus in manufacturing, construction, retail automotive, multi-state corporations and high net-worth individuals. Layo joined the firm in 2001 after receiving his Bachelor of Science in accounting from Utica College. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York and is also a member of the NYSSCPA and the AICPA.

Alanna Abreu has been promoted to special projects supervisor. Abreu joined the firm’s audit department in 2008 after earning her Bachelor of Science in accounting from Le Moyne College. She has vast knowledge and experience in providing audit, reviews, and compilations for manufacturing, construction, architecture and engineering firms, nonprofit organizations, as well as FAR audits and employee benefit plans. She also specializes in providing consultative services for local nonprofits such as preparing monthly bank reconciliations, internal control improvement, maintaining subledgers, preparing financial analysis for management and assisting with the completion of nonprofits audits. Abreu is a member of the NYSSCPA, the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA), and she serves as treasurer of the Daughters of America Revolution (DAR), Comfort Tyler Chapter.

Anthony R. Cafferelli, Jr., has been promoted to audit senior. Cafferelli works on audits, reviews and compilations for a variety of clients, including manufacturing, construction and automotive.  Prior to joining the firm in 2018, Cafferelli worked as a staff auditor for WithumSmith+Brown, PC, a nationally ranked public accounting firm. He earned his associate degree in business administration from Northern Virginia Community College and a Bachelor of Accounting from The George Washington University. Cafferelli also served in the United States Marine Corps from 2004 to 2012 and is a board member and treasurer for Growing Veterans, a nonprofit organization based out of the state of Washington.

Anthony J. Cerchia, CPA, has been promoted to tax senior. In his role, he is responsible for preparing and overseeing tax engagements for a variety of clientele with a focus on auto dealerships, construction, manufacturing, multi-state corporations and high net worth individuals. Additionally, he has experience providing individual and corporate tax planning. Cerchia graduated cum laude from the State University of New York College at Oneonta where he received his Bachelor of Science in professional accounting in 2016. He is a Certified Public Accountant in New York State, a member of the AICPA and the NYSSCPA and a NextGen Networking volunteer.

Sean R. Conners has been promoted to tax senior. Conners joined the firm in 2016 and is responsible for the preparation and review of individual and corporate tax returns, individual and corporate tax planning and multi-state taxation. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration in accounting from Le Moyne College.

Kerry McSweeney, CPA, has been promoted to audit senior. McSweeney graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego where she received her Bachelor of Science in accounting in 2015 and her Master of Business Administration the following year. She worked as an intern for Dannible & McKee from 2014 to 2015 before joining the firm’s audit department full time in 2016. McSweeney works on audits, reviews and compilations for a variety of companies in industries such as construction, architecture and engineering firms and insurance.  She also provides audits of employee benefit plans.  She is a Certified Public Accountant in New York State and a member of the AICPA and the NYSSCPA.

Christine Petrone has been promoted to accounting services senior. Petrone has six years of experience providing specialized accounting services to clients, such as budgeting, internal financial statement reporting and organizing client accounting records. Her concentration is on nonprofit organizations and retail and wholesale businesses. Prior to joining the firm, she held the positions of director of operations for Amped I Fire, LLC and accounting manager for Design Specialists, Inc.  Petrone received her Bachelor of Professional Studies in business management from Cazenovia College, as well as a certificate of management and supervision, and is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.  Petrone is also a member of the AFWA and a Red Cross event volunteer.

Robert Reeves, CPA, has been promoted to audit senior. Reeves joined the firm in 2017 and is responsible for providing audits, reviews and compilations in a variety of different industries. He also works closely with client personnel to help identify and resolve accounting and auditing issues. Prior to joining the firm, Reeves worked as a senior accountant at Brookline Development Company, LLC.  He earned his Master of Business Administration from the State University of New York at Oswego and a bachelor’s degree in accounting, magna cum laude, from Niagara University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in New York State and a member of the AICPA and the NYSSCPA.

Marissa A. Spring has been promoted to tax senior. Spring joined the firm in 2016 and is responsible for the preparation and planning for individuals, partnerships and corporations, as well as preparing multi-state returns. She works with clients in the construction, architecture and engineering and healthcare industries, in addition to nonprofit organizations. She earned her associate degree in accounting from Herkimer Community College, a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Le Moyne College and her Master of Science in accounting from Liberty University.
